Kindergarten Round-up has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Parents in the Maple Valley District who have a child that will be 5 years old by September 15, 2007, are asked to call the principal’s office at 881-1319 to register. At this time, we need only the parent’s name, child’s name and birth date, address, and phone number. A letter indicating the exact time you and your child will be asked to come to school for Round-up activities will be sent to those on our list compiled at this time.
Each child will attend Round-up for approximately one hour. They will take a readiness test and have a hearing, speech and eye evaluation.
School regulations require that we have some written document to verify the child’s birth date. The State of Iowa requires that this must be a certificate issued by the county or state, and it may be obtained from the county courthouse in the county the youngster was born for a small fee. The certificate issued by the hospital is not acceptable by the state as sufficient verification. Hopefully, you will have the birth certificate the day of Round-up for verification.
