“At The Hop”

The cafeteria at Anthon Oto-Maple Valley went back in time on March 27th as the seventh and eighth choral students held their variety show, “At The Hop.” Under the direction of Crista Else, her students sang a variety of songs from the 50s and dressed the part of people from that era, complete with poodle skirts, roller skates, and even the King himself, Elvis.

What's Happenin’ in Flex

By Eric Koithan

This week in Flex we have been exploring Argentina, the second largest country in South America and I, the El Rico, decided to report to you our good news. This week in our 8th grade 4th quarter flex we have been interacting with our unknown friends from Buenos Aires, Argentina which is located in South America. Lately, we have been doing some odds and ends to get some knowledge about this unique country. Some of the things I have learned about this very attention-grabbing country is that Buenos Aires, which is the capital, has the most professional football teams worldwide. I also learned that unlike American dancers who like to boogey down, the Argentine people enjoy the tango.
Also to let you all know, one of our veterans at the school, Mrs. Lewis, got to know this teacher from Buenos Aires over the Internet. She helped make this union possible. Thanks, EllieMae!!!
I then asked the captain, Mrs. Jody Herbold, my ole amigo, what was going on in flex and what she thought was exciting about this project. Herbold (pondering hard) then smoothly replied, “We have the great opportunity to collaborate with a school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Currently, we are researching their city and country and making a poster of Argentina. We really want to get to know them and better relate to them. Eventually, we will correspond through letters/emails. We are excited to work with students from across the world.” Wow, all those things she just said really got me worried about how hard the upcoming flex quarter will be. I just calmed myself by taking a deep breath and counting backwards from 10. AHHHH, I am feeling better now!
Thank you for observing my information. I will try and keep you updated on our project with Buenos Aires, Argentina.
P.S.: The thing about Mrs. Herbold having a wig isn’t true, just to let you know. Thank you and good night.
