The Buths were inundated with family stuff for three weekends in a row. The weekend prior to MVAO Graduation, Lois Liepold of Eagan, MN, made the trek south to help prepare the Buth home for the big event. Of course, the group had to get in their traditional take-Lois-to-Sioux-City before kicking her out. Like a boomarang, Lois came back on Thursday before graduation to continue the graduation preparations. Mike's parents, Bev and Don Buth of Milbank, SD, arrived Friday evening in anticipation of the big party on Saturday for Nick. Saturday morning brought in Minnesotans as Lynn's mom and dad, Linus and Nell Liepold of Heron Lake and Lynn's brother and his wife John and Jill Liepold of New Market along with Lynn's brother and his kids, Loren Liepold and Mark, Bonnie and Chris of Grand Forks, ND, arrived to eat posta. Sunday found more Minnesotans as Mike's sister's family, Stacy and Dan Thofson and kids Anthony and Siri of Medford; Lynn's brother's family, Larry and Jill Liepold and kids Joe, Erin, Austin and Kristin of Okabena; and Lynn's sister and her hubby, LaVonne and Gary Reif of Jackson arrived in time for waffles. The group shortened for commencement as some left for other commitments (but the waffles were worth the 2 1/2 hour drive!). As all others left for their trips back home, the Danbury Buths and Thofsons ate together before saying adios. The following Friday, the Buths left in the dark of the night, literally, for Milbank to stay at Mike's parents' home. Since the parents didn't feel ilke getting up to say "Hi" to their guests at 2 in the morning and the kids didn't feel like getting up at 7 in the morning to say "Bye" (Don and Bev left for their own itinerary, or so they say), the paths didn't really cross, and the Iowans continued for their ultimate goal, Grand Forks for Bonnie's graduation Saturday morning. They hapened to meet up with with a van which contained relatives heading for the same location as they made it to the interstate. What a coincidence! Pizza, swimming, talking, cards which Lynn won (booyah), more food, rain, shivering, and a riveting game of Keep a Dozen Balloons Off The Floor At The Same Time was enjoyed. The Buths headed home bright and early on Monday in time for Logan's game in Charter Oak. This last weekend, no relatives!
Wilma Clausen and Rita Wessling attended a retirement party for Janice Plummer who completed 17 years with the Hornick Post Office on May 31st. Janice is the sister of Rita Wessling and the late Norman Clausen.
