The Iowa High School Rodeo Association held the Finals Rodeo in Fort Madison, IA, the weekend of June 15 through 17. A rodeo performance was held on Friday and Saturday, and the short go performance was on Sunday. The short go qualifiers are the top 15 point earners in each of the rodeo events for the 2006-07 season.
Molly Tullis qualified for the short go in the breakaway roping. Molly won the average in breakaway by roping her 3 calves in the fastest time for the weekend. Molly’s other events were barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying.
In addition to competing in the rodeo, Molly sang the National Anthem at performances throughout the weekend.
At the awards ceremony Sunday evening, Molly was presented with an embroidered gear bag and hat pin for qualifying for the short go. In addition, she received a plaque and an embroidered gear bag for winning the average.
Molly finished the 2006-07 high school rodeo season in 6th place in the breakaway roping in the state of Iowa. She received a belt buckle for this accomplishment.
Molly is the daughter of Dennis Tullis of Danbury and Pam and Myron Kunze of Mapleton. She will be a junior this fall at MVAO High School.
The 2007-08 high school rodeo season begins August 25-26 with rodeo performances at Moville.
