Pictured on this page are the Woodbury County Fair queen contestants.
Preliminary judging was held on Monday, July 16th at Theo's in Lawton.
The Queen and her court will be crowned at Flather's Hall on Wednesday, August 1st at 7:00 p.m. at the Woodbury County Fair, in Moville, Iowa. The Queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship, each Princess will receive a $500 scholarship, and Miss Congeniality will receive a $250 scholarship.
Contestants are judged on personality, poise, community service, leadership and citizenship.
The Fair Royalty will reign over the 2007 Woodbury County Fair and take part in several area parades during the summer of 2008.
Sydney Brady
Sydney Brady, 17, is the daughter of Nate and Tammy Brady of Sioux City.
She is an active member of the Mayors Youth Commission and the East High Cross Country and track teams. She is on the National Honor Society and serves as secretary for the Woodbury County Council.
As a 4-H member for eight years, Sydney represented Woodbury County on the Northwest Area Council as well.
This fall she will be a senior at East High School in Sioux City.

Mary Burroughs
Mary Burroughs, 18, is the daughter of David and Clarissa Burroughs of Sioux City.
In school she was involved in Quiz Bowl, Math Team, Speech Team, Band, Show Choir, National Honor Society, and Student Council. She is president of the 4-H County Council and a nine-year member of Woodbury County 4-H.
She enjoys participating in the communications, textiles and clothing, and food departments. Her hobbies include sewing, baking, cooking, reading, and solving a rubicks cube.
This fall she will be attending Iowa State University and majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Emily Heger
Emily Heger, 18, is the daughter of Mike and Linda Heger of Sioux City.
She is an active member of the Silver Spurs 4-H Club. She was involved in softball, soccer, volleyball, track, and basketball. She was a writer for her school newspaper and volunteered at S.T.A.R.S. barn and soup kitchen.
This fall Emily will be attending Buena Vista University to play soccer and major in Spanish and Education.

Alli Kirchgatter
Alli Kirchgatter is the 16-year old daughter of Scott and Mona Kirchgatter of Anthon.
She will be a junior this fall at Maple Valley Ð Anthon Oto where she is currently active in FFA, Band, Jazz Band, basketball, golf, softball, and Gold Club. She is also a member of the Anthon Advancers 4-H club, and the Wolf Creek Saddle Club. This year she plans to show her horse in barrels and pole bending at the fair.
Her future plans include attending Iowa State University and majoring in Equine Science.

Melissa Nelson
Melissa Nelson, 18, is the daughter of Randy and Mickey Nelson of Sioux City.
She is a recent graduate of Bishop Heelan where she was a mission club officer, was Chapter President of Just Eliminate Lies (JEL), Teens Against Tobacco use, a member of Life Core, and Aware. Melissa is currently the State JEL President and has been a member of the JEL Executive Council for two years.
Melissa will be a freshman next year at the University of Iowa where she will be a pre-business major.

Carrie New
Carrie New is the 18-year old daughter of George and Susan New. She lives in Sioux City, Iowa and just graduated from North High School.
She has been involved in many activities throughout high school such as being named Student Council President, Homecoming Queen, a member of the Speech and Debate teams, and a Varsity Soccer Captain. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Council on Youth Leadership. In the community, Carrie volunteers for her church’s youth and children’s programs and volunteers for the Blood Bank and Artsplash.
Carrie will be attending Hope College in Holland, Michigan in the fall with plans to study theatre and youth ministry.

Jill Powell
Jill Powell, 20, is the daughter of Clayton and Suzy Powell of Pierson.
At Kingsley-Pierson High School she was involved in basketball, cross-country, track, volleyball, National Honor Society and FFA. She was also actively involved in County Council, National Junior Limousin Association, Pierson Handy Helpers 4-H Club, and Farm-to-City. At the fair, she shows cattle, pigs, sheep, and poultry. Her greatest achievement was winning the Overall Showmanship Award.
She attends Iowa State University, majoring in Finance. After graduating next December she will be working as a loan officer.

Randi Reeder
Randi Reeder, is the 17-year old daughter of Duane and Rhonda Reeder of Lawton.
She will be a senior at Sioux City North High School in the fall. She is an active 4-H member in the Silver Spurs, is in the North Band program, the North Dance Squad, and National Honor Society. She also takes studio dance in Morningside at Dancing with Celeste.
When she graduates, she plans to continue her education and major in business management.

Katie Sorensen
Katie Sorensen is the 17-year old daughter of Bruce and Shelly Sorensen of Lawton.
She is very active in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, and drill team. She is also involved in 4-H and County Council. Katie enjoys showing her horse and calves at the fair.
Katie will be a senior at Lawton-Bronson High School. After high school she plans on attending a four-year college and majoring in pre-law.

Baylee Washburn
Baylee Washburn is the 18-year old daughter of Doug and Rita Washburn of Hornick, Iowa.
During high school, Baylee has been active in several extracurricular activities including Rebelaires Show Choir, National Honor Society, Future Problem Solving, track, softball, and Honor Choir. She has held leadership positions in many of these activities and is currently serving as President of her Student Council and 4-H Club.
Baylee is a 2007 graduate of Westwood Community School in Sloan, Iowa. In August, she will begin college at the University of Nebraska Ð Lincoln.

Rashelle Wilson
Rashelle Wilson, 18, is the daughter of Jim and Sharol Wilson.
She has recently graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School. During her high school career she was involved in volleyball, basketball, track, County Council, softball, 4-H, JEL, TATU, Choir and Show Choir.
In the fall she plans to attend Dordt College in Sioux Center and play softball. She is majoring in Physical Education and is getting her coaching endorsement.

Kara Zenor
Kara Zenor is the 18-year old daughter of Tim and Sandy Zenor from Lawton, Iowa.
She will be a senior a Lawton-Bronson this fall. During school, Kara has been involved in volleyball and yearbook. She also takes dance at Dancing with Celeste, has been on County Council, participated in Farm-to-City, and is a member of the Banner Boosters 4-H Club. She has helped with dinners and the library at church. At fair she has shown her horse, steers, heifers, and cow/calf.
