Sweatshirts and pants were the popular attire for the game against rival teams Maple Valley-Anthon Oto and Battle Creek-Ida Grove on September 7th, a gorgeous night for a football game. The two teams, always ready to battle hard against each other, were matched well and kept the score low and close.
The scoreboard displayed goose eggs for both teams until the second quarteer. With 10:32 on the clock, Ram Quarterback Derek Dougherty, who had worked the ball toward his goal, ran a yard and put the Rams on the board first. Joey Flanigan kicked through the uprights to add a point. A short minute later, the Falcons replied with a 64 yard touchdown by Miller. Boger also nailed the PAT, and the score was tied going into the halftime entertainment.
The second half remained tough on both sides. The Falcons scored their second TD in the third quarter, but the PAT was no good, making the score 13-7 in their favor.
Kevin Zimmerman was leader in rushing with 102 yards. Ethan Wolf took the top honors in receiving with 38 yards. Kyle Livermore and Wes Burkhart shared top marks in the tackle column with 9 each.
Derek Dougherty was 7 for 14 in passing, connecting for a total of 82 yards.
