The city council election will be held on November 6th. In this election, a mayor and three councilpersons will be elected. No one filed papers for mayor, so this will be a write-in campaign. Incumbents Michael Buth and Jan Petrositch are seeking re-election to the council, as well as candidates Mel Frahm and Cecelia Patterson. Sonya Sherrill is also on the ballot but is not eligible to fill a spot due to her city clerk position.
To better help you with your voting choices, here is some information from each candidate. The candidates are listed in alphabetical order by last name so as to remain unbiased.

Why do you want to be on the City Council?
Have decided to run again due to unfinished business - i.e. continued interest in the sale of the public school building. Would still like to see a viable business housed there that would offer jobs to the community. Our nuisance abatement is still unfinished. Upon completion of that, I would like to address the issue of dogs running at large.
Sonya is currently training to take over as our city clerk. When the windows of opportunity for both council and clerk opened, she felt she wanted to serve our city in some capacity. However, she was unsure whether she would be interested in the city clerk position if she was offered the chance. When the offer did come, it was too late to get her name removed from the candidate list. Because of this, she is ineligible to become a councilperson, even though her name is still on the ballot.
