May We Assess You?

Patients Needed For Disaster Drill

Most disasters don't schedule themselves so that people can brace for them, or at least not months in advance, but a disaster of some form will hit Danbury on June 14th. The type of disaster will not be revealed so that participating ambulance services cannot prepare for anything specific.
Danbury will be host to the Woodbury County countywide drill this year. The goal is to allow not only Danbury's emergency services to practice their training, but to give area agencies, including services from our neighboring communities from this and from other counties, to experience the intensity of a "real" disaster.
In order to successfully host the disaster, Danbury Ambulance Service is seeking 30-40 victims. A couple dozen more people need to be added to the list. You do not need to be from Danbury to participate. Some of you will be "slightly injured" while others will be "critical" and still others may "die." We will be using make-up to create bruises, cuts, and other injuries on our patients. This will enable the squads to practice a wide variety of skills and will be realistic of a true disaster. If you are interested in participating in the drill, even if you may need to back out due to conflicts as the day nears, please contact Lynn Buth at 712-893-2160 (if necessary, leave a message with your phone number) or email Lynn at buth@danbury-ia.com. A list of "patients" will be compiled, and these people will be contacted as the target date nears to see if they are still able to participate. Remember, even if you might have a conflict (little league comes to mind), please call if you are interested. Making the call will not commit you at this time.
