Three Local 4-H'ers Selected for Area Council

   The local 4-H'ers were selected to an elite group of 42 northwest Iowa 4-H'ers to serve in a special leadership role on the Northwest Iowa 4-H Area Council for the 2008-2009 year. Jeff Bruning (a 3rd year member) of Mapleton, Andrea Bruning (1st year member) of Castana, and Paisley Conlon (1st year member) of Rodney will represent Monona County as young leaders chosen from 15 counties to assist ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Program in developing strong leaders in their communities.
   All three are students at Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto High School and are members of the Mapleton Starspinners 4-H Club. Jeff is a senior and the son of David & Sharyl Bruning, Andrea is a sophomore and the daughter of Mike & Lisa Bruning, Paisley is a sophomore and the daughter of Mike & Tracy Conlon.
   Area 4-H Council youth representatives will be involved in identifying strategies to strengthen leadership education and opportunities for the area and in the counties they represent. They will form a network serving as a link between county, area, and state 4-H programs. The group will also serve as an advisory for youth leadership programming.
