Letter From a Reader

Election time is right around the corner so it is time to make a difference. I would encourage everyone to vote, regardless of how the outcome may seem, what the polls say, or how the media coverage paints the picture. Campaign advertisements are the results of marketing geniuses, designed to paint a pretty picture around one candidate or make a positive outcome for another seem nearly impossible. It is not over until all of the polls are closed. Get out and vote!
It is not my position to tell you how to vote or who to vote for, nor is it anyone else's right either. You need to vote for the candidates that you believe will do the best job in their office. For each race, try to cut through the marketing and propaganda to the real stand that each candidate has. Don't be afraid to cross party lines from race to race. Not all good candidates are from the same party. For each and every race, whether it is local or national, vote for the candidate that you feel has the same beliefs, morals, and values that you hold, and that you think would be the best person in that office for the majority of those governed or affected by the office.
These are the fundamental principles that this country was built on. It's a great country but it doesn't work unless everyone does their part. Stand up and be counted. Get out and vote!

To the Editor
In addition to national security, another very important issue in this election is abortion, which was so succinctly expressed in the article written by Roger and Joyce Erlemier published in the October 15, 2008 issue of the Danbury Review. I firmly believe that life begins at conception and any procedure to end that life is horrendous and unacceptable, except to save the life of the mother.
Particularly disturbing is the barbaric procedure partial-birth abortion. Partially delivering the baby, terminating his or her life, then discarding the remains is infanticide and unthinkable in a civilized society. Our daughter Deborah and her husband produced a 35 minute film (A Distant Thunder) on partial-birth abortion which has been shown at Right To Life events in Washington, D.C. and around the country. Jeb Bush, when he was Governor of Florida, wrote “Using a ‘Twilight Zone’ twist to this timely film is a call to action to defend the lives of soon-to-be-born children who are inhumanely denied the right to life.” In one instance, an unmarried college couple, who were considering aborting the fetus, saw the film and decided to get married and have the baby.
The far left and most Democrats, including the leaders of the party, are pro-choice (pro-abortion) including partial-birth abortion. In fact, the Democratic nominee for President not only supports partial-birth abortion but voted four times against a bill introduced in the Illinois Senate, that would require care and protection for babies born alive after a botched abortion. May God help us!!
