Maple Valley FFA Holds 2009 Awards Banquet

   On May Day, Madison Walsh led invocation before roughly 50 FFA members and their parents before they sat down for a meal of fried chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans, and potato salad. After everyone was finished eating, our 2008 President Jon Wimmer called the meeting of the Maple Valley FFA Annual Awards and Proficiencies Banquet to order. Next was Senior Member Recognition led by Beth Weber and Megan Wimmer. The seniors present were Justin Hazard and his parents Rhonda and Scott Hazard, Jon Wimmer and his parents Brenda and Dale Wimmer, Jeff Bruning and his parents Sharyl and David Bruning, and Molly Tullis and her mother Pam Kuntz. We then proceeded to listen to Jeff Bruning’s retiring address as a senior Vice President. Nathan Clausen and Jessica Hinrickson named off all the SubDistrict, District, and State Contests, that we have all done in the past year. Then Hinrickson also gave her retiring address as a senior officer at large I.

   Local Proficiency and Star Awards were called off by Rebecca Wilson and Brittany Weber. The winners of the Proficiency awards were the following:

   Following the announcement of all these hard earned awards, Rebekah Benson announced the Outstanding Leadership for this past year; the winner of this award was Paisley Conlon.
   Next we heard Molly Tullis’s retiring address as our senior Secretary. The officer team then announced the Honorary Members who were Dale Wimmer, Josh Benson, and Mary Jo and Brad Hanson. The senior awards were announced by our advisor, Dennis Benson. The Dekalb SAE Award was awarded to Jeff Bruning, the Kortman Leadership Award was given to Jon Wimmer, and Justin Hazard received the Senior Service Award. Following that was Jon Wimmer with his retiring address as a senior officer, our president. One of our Alumni Members, Darren Goslar announced the record book awards that were the following:

   Paige Wright and Augusta Nixon announced the Outstanding Alumni Award winners who were Frank and Leona Weber, and Distinguished Service who was the Anthon Vet Clinic. Then what all the officer candidates have been waiting for, officer installment. Our new officer team is:

March AOMV Hawks of the Month

AOMV Large Group Band Contest Results

   The Anthon Oto-Maple Valley Large Group Contest was held on Saturday, April 25th in the AOMV Middle School Gym. Twenty bands performed in this year's contest. Judges for the day were Russ Nagel of Sioux City North Middle, Pam Ryan of Lweis Central Middle in Council Bluffs, and Roland Jensen of Pocahontas.
