Monona County Extension has established a leadership program called Ricochet: An Extreme Leadership Adventure where middle school youth begin their adventure through three levels of participation learning about five dimensions of leadership. Since 2006, 61 youth have participated and 15 have completed all three levels of the program.
To continue and extend leadership learning and experiences, a Monona County Ricochet 4-H Club formed, meeting for the first time on January 16 at the Monona County Extension Office. Those attending from around the county participated in an activity exploring tolerance in leadership. The following officers were elected: Co-Presidents Ð Paisley Conlin and Carrie Jo Hartman, Secretary/Reporter Ð Jordyn Murray, Treasurer Ð Jessica Menke. Other members attending included Abby Menke, Samantha Bligh, and Jennifer Hartman. Club volunteer leader is Cheri Hardison.
The next meeting was scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 10:00-11:30 am at the Monona County Extension Office in Onawa. All youth from grades 6-12 are invited to join the club. As the club gets established, it would be helpful in planning to know how many will attend. Please call Cheri at 712/423-2175 or e-mail at chardi@iastate.edu prior to the meeting.
