(Danbury Catholic Elementary) - One Special Night (as told from the perspective of a shepherd or the innkeeper)

I had almost fallen asleep, but then I saw a bright star. The angel said something exciting was going to happen. At first I thought it was a joke. Then, I thought I should go look myself, so I went. When I finally got to the stable, I saw a baby! I found out it was a boy and his name was Jesus!
- Evelyn Wessling

It was so busy that night! We had no rooms left, but I saw a pregnant woman. At first I said no, but she needed a place to stay now. Then, the baby was born. People kept arriving all night long. I was shocked. Suddenly, there was a bright light! I knew the King was born!
- Zthan Mefferd

It was so busy that night! We had no rooms left, but I knew that I had a stable only a few blocks away. l offered it to them and they accepted it. Then when they got there, it was warm but it didn't smell that good. There was a manger in the middle of the stable. Then Baby Jesus was born!
- Carter Bettin
It was so busy that night! We had no rooms left, but the man and woman said any place would be fine. I told them there was a barn. At first they said no, but that was the only place to stay in so they said, "OK." Then Baby Jesus was born and people came to see Baby Jesus. The people kept arriving all night long. I was so happy to see so many people, and then suddenly, there was a bright light! I knew it was Baby Jesus, so I ran and ran and ran and then I saw Baby Jesus!
- Hannah Gagnon

I had almost fallen asleep, but then I saw thousands of angels telling me, "Jesus is born! Jesus is born!"
The angel said, "Do not be afraid." At first I thought I was dreaming. Then they told me, "I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people."
When I finally got to the stable, I was stunned in shock. I couldn't believe it was real! I was standing by the newborn King.
- Skyla Seuntjens
I had almost fallen asleep, but then a star came down from the sky. The angel said, "The Baby Jesus is born."
At first I thought, "This is not real." Then, I needed to see this. When I finally got to the stable, I saw the Baby Jesus.
- Jonathan Wessling

I had almost fallen asleep, but then I saw an angel. The angel said a King is going to be born in a stable and the angel said there will be a star in the north. At first I thought he was lying. Then, I saw a star in the north. I could not believe it. When I finally got to the stable, I saw Baby Jesus with Mary and Joseph. It was amazing! I could not believe Jesus was born in a stable. The end. Read the Bible to find out the rest of the story.
- Oakley Meyers

I had almost fallen asleep. The angel said to go find the star up on the hill. I heard a baby crying and it was Baby Jesus. When I finally got to the stable, Baby Jesus had been born.
- Paisleigh Cooper
It was so busy that night! We had no rooms left. At first I said no, but then I saw Mary and I felt bad. I remembered the shed around back, so I told them. They were so happy. They thanked me and left. People kept arriving all night long. I couldn't stand it! Suddenly, there was a bright light! I knew the new King was born.
- Eloise Elgers

I had almost fallen asleep, but then I saw a big light, and it grew and grew. I saw an angel and another and another. The angel said, "Glory to God in the highest."
I thought that Caesar Augustus was the King. At first I thought, he is, but who is this Savior? I decided to see him. Then the angel said, "Today in the town of Bethlehem, a Savior has been born to you. He is going to be born in a stable."
When I got to the stable, it was true. Before my eyes, I saw three Kings, the parents, and some animals. In the middle, I saw a feeding trough, but inside of it was a baby, the new King!!
- Beau Flanigan
I had almost fallen asleep, but then a group of angels swarmed around us and told us Jesus was born! The angel said, "The King is born! The King is born!"
At first I thought, what did the angels mean? Then, I thought we should go see the King. When I finally got to the stable, I saw the King! I smiled and I gave Him some stuff.
- Blake Wallace

I had almost fallen asleep, but then I saw an angel that said to follow the star. The angel said, "There is a very special baby that was born. Follow the star and you will get there." At first I thought it was a regular star, but then it was so bright. I followed the star. Then, I heard a baby crying, so I followed the crying sound. When I finally got to the stable, there was a baby. He was a very special baby. He ruled the whole world. His name was Jesus.

Elf on the Shelf
Our family has an elf,
She sits on the shelf.
Her name is Snowflake!
Sometimes, she likes to bake.
She watches us and tells Santa if we are naughty or nice.
Even when we are outside on the snow and ice.

Sledding
Today I went sledding
I was heading to a hill,
And, my mom got the water bill.
Then, I went ice fishing, and I caught the fish's gill!
I was so cold that my cheeks started to blush,
The snow on my roof started to gush,
At the end of the day, I had to shovel some more slush.
By: Garrett Brown

I bought ice,
From a guy named, Spice.
We went to the mall,
but it was small.
A little kid pushed me over for a doll,
And I fell into the wall.

To me, Christmas is about family and the birth of Jesus. Every year, my family and I always make gingerbread houses on Christmas Eve. We listen to music and have hot chocolate and popcorn. We put all of the ornaments on the tree. On Christmas Eve, my whole family goes to church and opens some presents with my grandma and grandpa, and on Christmas Day, I open all of my presents. The reason I celebrate Christmas is because Jesus was born on December 25th. That is what I think Christmas is about so Merry Christmas!
    By: Emerlee Grace Yockey
Christmas, to me, means love. It is a time to spend with family and for making memories. Elves are watching every move we make. It is the start of wrestling season and a time to miss school. We watch "Frosty the Snowman" and "An Elf's Story" every year together. To me, Christmas is the best time of the year!
    By Braxton Boggs

Christmas, to me, means a time to be with your family and friends and a time for joy. The decorations are beautiful trees with ornaments and presents. On December 25th, Jesus was born. Christmas is my favorite holiday. Have a merry Christmas!

There are a lot of things you can do at Christmas. Christmas is a time for family and gifts. Also for singing carols and songs from Mariah Carey. Don't forget the birth of Jesus! I like all of the fun at Christmas, especially the hot cocoa. Christmas is the best holiday ever!
    By Oneal Bryant
Christmas is a special time of year. It is a time to think about the birth of Jesus. Also, it's about Christmas trees with decorations, but most importantly is the stars and angels on it. It's also about spending time with your family and traveling to their houses. Another thing that makes Christmas special is thinking about Santa and reindeer. My last and final thing is giving and receiving the presents and having fun. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    By Justin Hookam

I am writing about Christmas because it is my favorite holiday. It is when Christ was born. I like giving and getting gifts because they bring joy. Also, family time is important. Another thing about Christmas is it is fun because we get to play in the snow. Lastly, offroading with our gators and razors and four wheelers is fun! Overall, Christmas is my favorite holiday.

The Best Winter Break
Thatcher Blake
My favorite winter memory is when I went sledding with my brother. It all started when I went to my farm and went sledding down a hill. I went and got my four wheeler and hooked a sled to the back of the four wheeler. My brother Daxten hopped on the sled and then I drove and I started turning and then he fell off. Then we switched so he was driving and I was on the sled. He went fast and turned and sent me flying off.

My Favorite Winter Memory

My favorite memory was when I was playing in the snow. I was playing and having a snowball fight. After that we went sledding and we went down a hill. My brother and I were going really fast. We eventually stopped going when I hit my brother's sled.

My Favorite Christmas Memory

My favorite Christmas memory was when I got an iPad for Christmas. At my grandma's we all got gifts, mostly clothes, toys, books and stuffed animals. Then my grandma grabbed the last two gifts and gave one to me and one to my sister. It was thin and wide in the wrapping paper, and my sister looked at the gift in our hands. When we opened it there was an iPad! My sister and I were shocked. Then we set it up by adding our passwords and apps. That is my favorite Christmas memory.

Christmas Memory

I love Christmas time and I have lots of memories from Christmas. My favorite memory is from church on Christmas Eve. At the end of the service, everyone gets a small candle. Then they light the candle and they turn the lights off. Everyone there sings Silent Night and it's so beautiful. I always love church on Christmas Eve.
My Favorite Christmas Memory

My favorite Christmas memory is when me and my family went to Great Wolf Lodge. We went there because I have a lot of cousins and my grandma and grandpa's house was getting too small. I liked when 5 of my cousins went on the biggest slide there. It's a really big blue slide that you slide down for almost 2 minutes. That's my favorite Christmas memory.

My Favorite Winter Memory
Katy McConeghey
One of my favorite winter memories was when me and my two older sisters and my little brother went sledding down a big hill in our front yard. Me and my two older sisters also went snowboarding. Once we were done sledding and snowboarding we had a snowball fight. After the snowball fight, me and my two older sisters made a throne made of snow. It was just the three of us because our little brother went inside. Once we finished we went inside and had hot cocoa.

The Best Winter Break
Connor Neubaum
The best winter break was when I crushed my fingers because that was when I didn't have to do anything. There was a ton of snow all over, so we went to a hill and slid down it. The next day we grabbed the sled and four-wheeler and attached the sled to the four-wheeler. We went to a pasture and road in it. But the next day, I crushed my fingers and went to the emergency room.

My Favorite Winter Memory
Shamarah Villamora
My favorite winter memory is when we went to Preston and it started snowing. Then we waited for the snow to stop. When it did we went outside to play in the snow. We saw a giant snow pile and got the sled then we started sledding down. There was a launcher, a steep hill, a small hill and so many more piles to sled on. Then we pretended to be at a sledding park and I was the boss and my cousin was the helper. After that we made snow angels.
My Favorite Winter Memory

My favorite winter memory was when my cat Poofy was having kittens.
She was in the shop in a tub. She was meowing like crazy. She had 5 kittens. One was black and her name was White Socks because she had white feet. The other one was orange and his name is Tarzan. We let my grandma have them.

My Favorite Winter Memory

This is about my favorite snow day ever. It was after the 2024 blizzard when the roads were covered with about 10-15 feet of snow. My mom had an idea to go out and play on the road because the roads were not able to be driven on. We went on the big pile of snow. It was so tall so me and my family made a big base in it. My mom, dad, brother and sister could fit in it and even my dogs. We spent about 3 hours in it. We could even sleep in it. It was the best snow day ever. I had so much fun!

The day I went snowmobiling was my favorite winter memory. We ramped this big snow pile and when it was my turn, I floored it across the field. When my cousin gave me a ride we went down by the river. We just about hit a frisbee golf pole. When we were going snow mobiling we had a hard time getting the snowmobile running because it was cold outside that day.

My favorite winter memory is snowmobiling with my dad. We took it on the road, and we went really fast and about over 80 miles an hour. It was fun going that fast. Then, after getting off the road, we went into the field and drifted around. My dad had to do some stuff, so he hopped off and let me drive. I saw this really big snow pile, so I drove and ramped it and got really high in the air. It was fun ramping in the air really high. I went into the field and went around for a little bit. My dad got done with the stuff that he was doing, so when I was driving, he got in my grandpa's pickup and drove around in that. It was doing good in the snow for an old 1997 Chevy pickup. My snowmobile is a 2007 Arctic Cat. Then, I got bored of the snowmobile, and I went inside and had some hot cocoa and played video games with my friends.

It all started when I was five years old. I woke up around 6:00 am. I was so happy we got a trampoline. We got nerf guns and socks. I had a good Christmas. We ate chocolate that night. Santa came over and gave us suckers and candy. He was just a guy dressed in a Santa costume.

Once upon a time on a dark Christmas Eve, I was going to bed, and I was so excited. Then …. I fell asleep. I learned that if you go to sleep faster, then you sleep through the night, and it will feel like 10 minutes. It is so cool. Then, when I came down the stairs in the morning, there were like 100 PRESENTS. I was so excited. After a ton of presents later, my present was… drum roll please… it was a new…. TABLET. I was so happy. I was on it for hours. I had TONS OF APPS and, parents this is between you and me, but if you want your kids happy, get them a tablet or a phone. Trust me, it works.

My favorite memory during winter break is building tiny robots. Some day I want to use it in the military, because it would be a great useful thing to help protect the country. I just like to play with them and see what they can do when I get a chance to play with them. They are going to be able to help out a lot of things in the world. I hope I can be an engineer someday because it will help the whole world in about the first time in the world's biggest thing that has happened to the world. I think we will have a better future if we use the tiny robots in the world. Think how it will help the world in the future and everything will be fine with you and your family and all the world. Parents, think of how much time you would get instead of working all the time, and then you could have more time to play with your family and friends, and go out to eat with your family and friends. I think you will like the way I think. We can do more things in life than just one thing all day. Then you could be more than just one person in the middle of the ocean, just a little spec in the ocean. I think you don't need to worry so much, and pick the best option for you and your family and get the robots.

Last year, in 2024, on Christmas, I woke up to big presents, and when I say big, I mean it! I got a hover board that is broken right now, and I also got led lights, a new room arrangement, clothes, and a car set. When I got on my hover board, I was pretty good at it, and later when I was on it, I was zooming around the house and that's the end.

I was hauling cows to a corn field. It was the 15th of December when we hauled the cows to the field. There was a lot of snow that day. We used two trailers to haul the cows. The cows loved the corn field a lot.

My favorite winter memory is when I went sledding with my friend at the Mapleton football field hill. I decided to sled down on a trash can lid while spinning, and I fell off a ledge and did a backflip! I passed out for like 2 seconds haha! After a little bit of sledding we decided to go play around and explore. We walked around and saw a kitty pool filled with water, but it was frozen. My friend wanted to jump on it and well, she did. It turned out it was a thin layer of ice, and she fell in the water. I burst out laughing while she was getting up soaking wet. We started walking home when we saw a mouse running around the snow, and we tried to catch it. We made footprints all over the snow while trying to catch the mouse. After like 20 minutes, we finally caught it! It was a baby mouse, and it was a boy. After that, we let him go and went home. We had breakfast, and we watched a movie and had popcorn and hot cocoa. This is my favorite wintertime memory I've had.

A Christmas memory I will never forget was when I got a phone. I also got a football and it was signed by Tyreek Hill. I was 9 years old when I got that stuff. And I got a orbee gun. This was the best Christmas ever.

My favorite winter memory is playing a game where you have kitchen mittens on. You try getting coins out of a ball with numbers on them. Then, when all the coins are out, my mom would say the numbers and the person with that number on their coin gets that present with the numbers on them. It's a yearly tradition that we always do. I usually don't get any coins, but my dad gives me one. You have to have strong fingers to get them out and be tough. Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

My most memorable memory in winter is when me and my dog Toots would go play in the snow together. We would climb the snow pile, and then we would go cuddle inside together. We would go inside for a bit, and then I would come right back outside to play with Toots. Then, I would go make angels in the snow with my sister Hattie and Toots.

One of my all time favorite memories is when all of my family came to my house for Christmas. After we watched Christmas vacation and opened presents, we played games. The games we played were not just any old board games! We played games that my aunt made herself. One was that she found random stuff from around her house as the prizes that she wrapped in saran wrap. In 30 seconds, you had oven mitts on, and you had to unwrap the ball.
Another one was, you and a partner. My partner was my cousin Lucas, and you both had a balloon and seven cups and you had to blow the balloon so that it was in the shape of the cup to stack them. All in all, it was so fun to connect with my family! I hope to do it again this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Opening Christmas Presents With My Cousins

I was opening something from my uncle. I was shocked by what my uncle got me. He got me a ps5. There was a game called gang beast. Me and my cousins were playing it. We all had a great time with each other.

One Christmas Eve, I asked my parents if I could open one of my presents early. They said I could wait until the morning, but I was very impatient when I was little. So we set up milk and cookies for Santa. We gave him chocolate, hot cocoa, marshmallows, and cookies. The next morning, Bella, our elf, was gone and we had a bunch of presents under the tree. Then, we opened present youngest to oldest, so I was last. It was ok though. First, Myles opened his presents. He got some Sonic and Minecraft stuff. He liked the stuff he got. Then, Maverick got the same stuff as Myles. They liked it. Then, it was my turn. I was so excited! I opened my gifts, and I got makeup, skin care, a desk and cute clothes. My mom told me to open my last couple gifts. I was so excited she gave it and I opened it and it was bird food. I started to cry. I was so happy. I have loved birds for a really long time. Then, I opened the other ones. They were bird toys and a cage. The next day, we went to pet smart and got two birds. I named them Katie and Zoey. Zoey died though, but I still have Katie. That was my favorite Christmas memory ever.

Memory and Tradition

My favorite memory of Christmas is when I got a present. I think it was 2021, but I am not sure. It was……. A guinea pig! I loved having a guinea pig. Her name was Princess. Now my favorite tradition. First, we open one present on Christmas Eve. Then on Christmas morning, we open one present and eat breakfast then we open the rest of the presents. Next, we get ready for the day and go to my grandma and grandpa's house with my family. Then, eat lunch and we usually have ham and mashed potatoes, the kind of stuff mostly everyone eats on Christmas. After all of that, we open presents with everyone. It is so fun. I always love what my grandma and grandpa get me! Then we usually have dessert. I LOVE my grandma's dessert. And that is my favorite Christmas memory and tradition.

One of my favorite Christmas memories is when I was about 5 or 6 years old, and we were on what was probably my first Polar Express ride. While on the train, we saw loads of these giant props and inflatables that lit up. It was so fun. At the end of the ride, we got to go to Santa's workshop and get giant candy canes and cups of hot chocolates bigger than my face. While at Santa's workshop, we got to "meet" Santa and the elves. We got a ton of chocolates. We also got to stay up past midnight, I think. That is my favorite Christmas memory.

Is when my family went on a trip to the beach. It was me, my mom, my dad and my brothers. When we got there, we went into the room, then I ran out to the beach and jumped into the water and it was cold. Then, it was dark outside and we went to catch crabs. We did not get anything. I was really happy to go to the beach!

My Favorite Christmas Gift
By: Addison Schrader
My favorite Christmas gift was when me and Charlie were opening presents, and we kept getting summer toys like; goggles, sandcastle things, water buckets, coverups, beach dresses, and sandals. Then we went downstairs to open our special present, and it was a new suitcase. I asked, "Mom, are we going somewhere warm?" She said, "YES!!" Me and Charlie asked where we were going. Mom said, "In 2 weeks we are going to fly to Florida, and then we are going to go on a cruise ship to Mexico. We will be there for a week." Charlie asked, "Is anyone going with us?" Dad said, "Matt, Chelsea, Schalee, Harper, Grandma, Grandpa, Lexy, Abry, Nate, and Ally." Me and Charlie were so excited we could not wait. That was my favorite Christmas gift.

I can show the love of Jesus this Christmas by doing all kinds of things. Being kind to people can be a really big thing in the Christmas season. You could scoop snow for elderly people, give to the less fortunate, Christmas carols, or invite someone who does not have anyone this Christmas to your house. Even in your house you can show the love of Jesus by picking up wrapping paper, helping with Christmas dinner, helping decorate, spending time with family, helping bake cookies, and by helping make Christmas invitations. One thing a lot of parents would want for Christmas is for you to get along with your siblings. You could go to mass on Christmas Eve night too. One of my favorite things to do is to get gifts for people, whether they are the less fortunate, family, or friends. I think it is very fun to give things to others, even if you do not know them very well. You can also volunteer somewhere local. I love Christmas a lot, but one thing a lot of people forget is that Christmas is not about presents, food, or toys. Christmas is Jesus Christ's birthday, our biggest gift is him, not the new toy or outfit you got on Christmas. It is always fun to make cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve night, or look in your stocking to see what you got, but it is also fun to go to mass on Christmas Eve night. Of course you will still have time to make cookies too. You could always do both, and there is almost never not enough time to listen to God and Jesus's words on his birthday. If you don't have time you can still watch it on television while in bed, or as a family in the living room. In conclusion, everyone might love Christmas but everyone should also remember that it isn't about the presents under the Christmas tree or the toys in your stockings, it is about Jesus Christ's birthday.

I can show the love of Jesus in many ways for Christmas. I can help decorate the house and give to the less fortunate. There is a thing called adopting a family for people who can't afford things. My family is adopting a family. We have a girl, a boy, and two parents. The girl wants a doll and clothing, the boy wants toys and clothing, and the parents asked for cleaning stuff, clothes, and food. There are so many kind things that you can do to help others or just be kind to others. The best thing ever is you can go to church. You can go caroling, make cookies for neighbors, and shovel snow. In conclusion, there are so many ways to be nice, helpful, and show love for Jesus.

This Christmas you can show the love of Jesus by volunteering to help people. You can shovel snow for your Grandma or older people around town. Another way you can show the love of Jesus is picking up after yourself. Picking up after yourself is very important. By this you can have more space in the living room. One of the best ways to show Jesus's love is to give to the less fortunate than you. They may just need the important things, you don't need to get them toys, clothes and food would be great. Christmas cards will make people feel known and loved. If you see someone who does not go anywhere or nobody comes to their house you can invite them to your Christmas. If someone is mopey or sad you can ask them what's wrong and cheer them up. Those are some ways to show Jesus's love.

I can show the love of Jesus this Christmas by doing things like helping people and giving thanks. I can scoop snow for people that can't. I could volunteer for things in my community. I can go to church and pray to God. I could go Christmas caroling. Showing the love of Jesus is the best thing ever and I will always share the love of God. Some people don't believe in God so maybe I could help spread the word. Then people that don't believe in God might believe in him just a tiny bit! I could make cookies for people that can't make them. My family is going to invite my neighbor to our house so that he has somewhere to go on Christmas. We can have Christmas dinner with him! I'll try to get along with my siblings this holiday season because we fight a lot! I'll help decorate my house, which is my most favourite part of Christmas.

I can show the love of Jesus this Christmas by doing a lot of things. Like Christmas caroling, spending time with family and helping my family decorate for Christmas! Christmas is fun and all, but it is not all about presents and all of the good food and stockings. It's also about spending time with Jesus. You can go to church, and help people in need. You could help older people scoop snow, give gifts to people, or invite someone to come to your Christmas if they don't have someone to spend it with. All of these things make Jesus really happy. It is so nice to be kind to other people in need or people who don't have anyone to spend Christmas with. I love Christmas and I also love helping people that need a lot of help. I love going to church and talking to Jesus and talking about Christmas. I hope that everyone can have a safe and fun Christmas this year!

I can show the love of Jesus this Christmas by being kind to other people. You can go to church and pray. I can get along with my siblings for my parents. Kids and grown ups can go Christmas caroling for people. You can make Christmas cards so people will be happy. I can help my Mom make Christmas cookies for people. My family can give gifts to people. You can volunteer for anything. I like spending time with my family. My family can give things to the less fortunate. I can help decorate for Christmas. When we open presents, I can pick up the wrapping paper for others. I can help my Grandpa scoop snow. My family can invite someone to our Christmas party. There are a lot of things you can do to show Jesus's love for Christmas.

I can show the love of Jesus this Christmas by preparing the house. It would be very helpful for my parents. Next I could volunteer to help at the church or anywhere. I could also invite people to join our church Christmas, because some people don't have anywhere to go. I could make Christmas cards for people that I know. Another thing I could do is scoop snow for older people. They would really appreciate it. I could spend time with my family and go to church with them. I could also give gifts to people and give to the less fortunate. I could get along with my brother. My parents would appreciate that too. I can also bake cookies for people. A lot of people love Christmas caroling so I could go and sing to people who can't get out of their homes. That would make a great Christmas, and show the love of Jesus.
