Good Food, Good Music in Danbury Over the Weekend

View More Pictures

Danbury was the location for eating on the streets and in a school and for kicking up your heels to some tunes. The Danbury Fire Department held their annual BBQ/street dance, and St. Mary's Rosary Society held their annual chicken dinner over the weekend.
Saturday found tables replacing fire trucks at the fire station as people fled to the scene of the supper. Brats and burgers were accompanied by the usual sides to fill hungry tummies and thirsty people. As the sun began to set, Over the Border got the place rocking with their music.
On Sunday, Danbury Catholic's gymnasium took center stage as chicken and its sides were set out for the patrons to feast upon. Staley's kept the food flowing with help from the Rosary Society members.

Happenings From Our Readers

The family of Rita Dirksen, some 75-80 people, invaded the Jim and Becky Venteicher home on East Okoboji to celebrate Rita's 80th birthday. Fr. LeRoy Seuntjens celebrated Mass for all present. Rita was overwhelmed with emotion when her kids presented a bouquet containing 80 red long stem roses to her. The weekend kept the cooks outside as the family enjoyed camping food, including a trash can supper and hillbilly omelets, throughout the weekend. Tents and campers covered the residence so those needing a little rest could do so. All had a great time.
